“It’s not possible” he said.
“Because of the silkworms or because of us?” I asked.
He gave a puzzled look.
“Why would anyone ever want to make a square cocoon in the first place? We’ve spent all this time and effort trying to make them perfectly suited for reeling their silk. You would be reducing it’s economic value and threatening our livelihoods! Why would you do this?”
“Because”Â I told him, “it’s not possible.”
